Cape winelands
Discover wines at source in the famous Cape Winelands by taking a day tour on one of six wine routes, and explore the historically rich adjacent towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. If you’d prefer to tap into hops rather than grapes, a number of locally brewed craft beers are sold at pubs in and around the city.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
An abundance of flora may be appreciated within the city environs, from the magnificence of the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to a World Heritage Site featuring more than 9 000 fynbos ('fine bush') species in the Table Mountain National Park.

Cultures
As the meeting point of many cultures, Cape Town is dotted with mosques, kramats, churches, synagogues and temples, while its architecture reveals examples of art deco, Cape Dutch and Malay engineering.

Dungeons
Cape Town’s beaches are a huge drawcard during the hot summer (November to February) months, while winter surf conditions are more favourable for all surf-related disciplines – including extreme wave riding at Dungeons, off Hout Bay.

Surfing and skimming in Davao’s Mati City
Mati City’s skimboarding team is more than just a collection of athletes. By spearheading conservation efforts and organizing annual tournaments, the group is responsible for much of the tourists now flocking to the Mindanao destination – and its first female skimboarder just might be the best in all the land

Davao Crocodile Park & Zoo
Catch the delightful 35-minute “Save Our Species” show that includes performances by a Palawan bearcat, a Burmese python, a Philippine fruit bat and a orangutan that eats durian on stage. Check for show timings.

T’nalak Home
With a factory located in the middle of a banana plantation, this homeware shop’s works with banana fiber to make pillowcases, paper, and many other beautiful things that are good enough to  export.

Aldevinco Shopping Center
Score antiques, brassware and Sarimanok figurines at this decades-old market. Bargaining is a must here.

Philippine Eagle Center Davao
Is home to the majestic Philippine eagle and at this center they are trying their best to preserve the endangered species. Visit on a Saturday afternoon for the “Raptors in Flight” show and look for PAL’s very own adopted eagle, Sina

Where To Dine & Drink

The Fat Cow
Run by one of the city’s young chefs, The Fat Cow serves up choice cuts of steak alongside bistro staples like salads and pasta dishes. Check out the cozy private dining room with an elaborate arch feature that gives guests the impression of being in a cow’s rib cage.

Tola, Kan-anan sa Balay Oboza
Located on the second floor of the well-preserved ancestral home of the Oboza family, Tola serves up traditional Filipino dishes in a beautiful setting that takes you back to the 1930s. Don’t miss the sinuglaw (grilled pork belly and raw tuna in vinegar and spices), locally harvested pomelo salad and tola (clear fish soup).

Active adventure
Surfing is synonymous with South Africa, which is not surprising when one considers that They have 2 000km of coastline on which to search for a wave. Add to this mix ideal weather for the greater part of the year, and it’s not surprising that so many talented surfers have emerged from South Africa to take on the world's best.

Pondoland Marine 
There aren’t too many coastal zones or estuaries in the world that can be called near-pristine, but the Pondoland Marine Protected Area (MPA) is surely one of them. It conserves a remarkable seascape along the Wild Coast in Eastern Cape province. This is an environment of subtropical reefs housing a teeming array of species, unpolluted estuaries serving as nurseries to young fish, and waterfalls dropping directly into the sea.

Vibrant culture
Just south of Dutywa off the N2 highway in the rural wilds of Eastern Cape, you’ll find a sign that reads, ‘Icamagu Institute’. The property it directs you to embraces a modest cultural village of a few rondavels, a nursery, a vegetable garden and a herb garden – but the woman behind the project is a veritable force of nature.

Carcar City
Established in the 16th century, Carcar is one of the oldest towns in Cebu province. A scenic two-hour drive from the airport, Carcar is known for its colonial structures – including the Carcar City Museum. Carcar was declared a Heritage Town in 2002, thanks to efforts by the Carcar Heritage Conservation Society.

Watersports in Moalboal
Just a two-hour drive from the airport, Moalboal is your best choice for a day by the sea. At Hale Manna Coastal Gardens, you can snorkel,  dive or kayak, or just recharge by the swimming pool.

Taboan Public Market
Cebuanos love their dried fish and at Taboan Public Market you can see a wide variety sold by the kilo – all of them would make perfect souvenirs but the danggit (rabbitfish) is the most popular breakfast choice around here.

The Pig & Palm
The Pig & Palm has some of the best cocktails in Cebu and is also a good spot for dinner. For drinks, try their Dill or No Dill, Proseccolada and Rum DMC cocktails.

Ibiza Beach Club
Ibiza Beach Club at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu looks like a floating island bar as it juts into the Hilutungan Channel – it’s also the perfect spot to watch the sunset while sipping a cold drink.

Rico's Lechon
The lechon (roasted pig) in Cebu is known for being so succulent that you can eat it without gravy. Rico’s Lechon has branches citywide – and there’s one near the airport.
